Before US Senate Committee on the Judiciary
Hearing on GDPR & CCPA: Opt-ins, Consumer Control, and the Impact on Competition and Innovation.
US Senate.
March 12, 2019.
In the testimony I identify the 10 key problems with the GDPR, which, if not addressed, will plague the CCPA. I discuss evidence-based solutions for online privacy and data protection. These include privacy enhancing technologies, consumer education, and standard setting. Finally, I address why a strong federal standard supports a national digital economy, protects Americans’ rights, and is supported by the Constitution.
